The Trip Over
December 29-30, 1999

The trip over was the second longest day of our lives. At the time, it seemed like the longest, but as it turns out, the return trip was even worse! Just kidding.

On Monday, November 29th, we were at the airport by 6:00 a.m. for an 8:00 flight. We flew on TWA from Tulsa - to - St. Louis - to Chicago. In Chicago, we retrieved our luggage and worked our way to the international terminal where we rechecked our luggage and checked in with Alitalia Airlines for our flights to Milan, Italy and on to TelAviv, Israel. After boarding the overseas flight, we all settled down for the 9 hour flight to Milan, and then an almost 4 hour flight to Tel Aviv. The time difference between Chicago and Milan was 7 hours with another one hour difference to Israel. As a result, by the time we endured a 2 hour plus bus trip from Tel Aviv to Tiberias, we had all been up from 5:00 a.m. Monday in Tulsa until 9:00 p.m. Tuesday in Tiberias, a total of about 33 hours. We all enjoyed a late dinner in the Royal Plaza Hotel - on the Sea of Galilee. Wake up calls were arranged by Shep - our Israeli guide.
