Mount Carmel is really a misnomer. It is a mountain range rather than a single mountain. On the eastern end of the range at Muhraka, we visited a Carmelite Friary which yielded spectacular views of the Yizreel Valley with Nazareth and Mount Tabor in the background, an Israeli airforce base, and pretty much the whole of Samaria.
1 Kings 18 - Elijah and the Prophets of Baal
from verse 20: So Ahab sent to all the Israelites and had the prophets assemble on Mount Carmel. Elijah appealed to all the people and said, "How long will you straddle the issue? If the Lord is God, follow him; if Baal, follow him."
